Case Study 1: Double Page Spread

On the left and most of the right side of the two pages there is an image of the band which the article is about, Green Day. There is also an image of an album cover on the right side of the page which is one of their albums. This is linked to the article because it talks about how it was the best rock album of the noughties.

The band in the image is wearing dark colored clothes against a dark colored background. This is to make the artists stand out more from the clothes they wear or the background which will cause fans of the band to read the article. One of the models is holding a box of popcorn which has a design similar to the album cover on the bottom right. The cinema setting and the album cover being a design for the popcorn box suggests that they are looking back on the success of their album.

The masthead at the bottom left third of the page uses a font similar to the one used in the album cover in the bottom right third of the page. This catches the readers eye and gains their interest. It also pays homage to the album by saying "the idiots" when referring to the band. This is a callback to the album which is the topic of the article, American Idiot. On the bottom center and right of the page, there is a red text box that shows who worked on the album. The red catches the readers eye so that they know who the article is about.
