Column 1
We caught up with Adam Tried before his concert at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to talk about his debut solo album being leaked on to the internet. Adam is the lead singer and guitarist of the band Kamikaze who have been on hiatus since August last year. His debut album “Adam tried to make an album” was recently leaked and has been downloaded a million times at the time of writing this article. The album reveals collaborations with other artists such as Jonah Wei-Haas (Pianist for Pinn Panelle) and Dylan Cloud (The bassist for Jezebel Lies).

“Dorian is doing great. He is currently in talks with a movie director for a film coming out in 2016.He had cameos in movies here and there but this will be his big debut for his film career. JR is doing charity work in the Philippines helping Typhoon Haiyan survivors rebuild their homes. Aiden is not doing so great. Currently he is having some problems so we are helping and talking to him about how supportive we are and how much it meant for us to do something positive. We are trying to get through this together”, Adam said to Unplugged. “We’re lucky to have a band of friends who have their heads screwed on – our life experiences, both good and bad, go into that and we support each other. We all love what we do. We are not letting Aiden’s problems affect our friendship and future,”

“Since we shot up in popularity in about 2008, we never thought we would be on magazines and on TV. We knew each other from college and decided to start a band. We uploaded songs onto my youtube channel and shared it on Facebook and we blew up from there.”

Column 2

When asked about his opinion on his debut solo album being leaked he said, “To be honest I just want my music to be heard, it doesn’t matter how.” He also added, “I wanted to show my roots in how I got into the music industry so I uploaded an unfinished version of the album with faked track listings. It’s to build up hype for the official release and to give them a preview. The reason why I chose to leak it is to show my music to a wider audience”

He goes on saying about how piracy can help the music industry, “It allows newer artists to reach a wider audience. It’s the main way to distribute their music apart from YouTube and SoundCloud. Sure there are a drop in sales of physical copies but the revenue from digital sales, gigs and merchandise make up for it.”
